Megan Popke is a very enthusiastic and bright seventh grader who loves sports. She is active in basketball and excels at softball. The Popke family received a grant from The Piggyback Foundation to help cover the costs of these sports including funding for Megan's uniform and shoes. We've also allowed Megan to enjoy Curtain Call Production Drama Enrichment Classes.
Marcella Popke, Megan's Mom, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and congestive heart failure. Her illness has had a tremendous impact on the entire family. They have shown great spiritual strength and thank God for bringing The Piggyback Foundation into their lives.
We, too, thank God for being able to help families, like the Popke family, maintain normalcy for their children.
Regarding: Marcella & Brett Popke
Dear Ms. Knittel:
Marcella is currently in treatment for her second episode of breast cancer. She will undergo surgical, radiation, and chemotherapy. This poses a significant hardship on the Popke family. Driving to Cleveland for treatment Gasoline cards, in my opinion, would be of the most benefit.
Sincerely,
Joseph A. Von Kaenel D.O.
We would like to thank Dr. VonKaenel for his referral. The Piggyback Foundation was able to provide over $100.00 in gas cards to the Popke family!
Sadly, Marcella Popke passed away April 20, 2008. Our continued support and prayers are with this family as they adjust to life with out their mother and wife.
