Just spend some time talking to the Metz family and you will see why Andrew is such a responsible, dedicated and brave young man. Andrew was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia while in basic training for the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. His family immediately pulled together to bring him home and get started on a plan to help Andrew fight this disease.
The Piggyback Foundation gave Andrew gift cards to restaurants, the movie theatre, and Dick's Sporting Goods to help take his mind off his illness while he was waiting to be admitted to the hospital. Salon Services at Christian Roberts Salon and Day Spa were provided to Andrew's dad, Tyson, and his step-mother, Vanessa, to help relieve some of the stress in preparation for Andrew's treatments.
Activity fees for the younger children in the family are being sponsored by PBF. Andrew will be at Cleveland Clinic from February until June. PBF volunteers are providing meals for his family during this time.
We are glad to be able to help keep this close-knit family together and support them with hope and prayers.
