Chip Battles from Battles Insurance referred Crystal Emmons to The Piggyback Foundation at a time when she needed a little help for her son Devyn. Devyn Ray Emmons was diagnosed with Arthrogryposis which affects Devyn's joints, causes muscle weakness and a multitude of other problems. Crystal is unable to work, because Devyn needs constant care.
Crystal's parents are actively involved in helping her care for Devyn. When Crystal's father was diagnosed with Cancer and her uncle passed away from a brain tumor, the family was devastated. Through all of the hardships the Emmons family has faced, they remain strong, caring and positive.
The Piggyback Foundation was able to send Devyn to his camp and his Mom to the convention where she could meet other families who are going through the same rare illness as Devyn. Christian Roberts Salon and Spa gave Crystal a day at the spa to relax and take a little time for herself before their trip. While on their trip, Crystal and Devyn were able to visit the Columbus Zoo.
Creating positive family memories is what The Piggyback Foundation's Families Count Program is all about!
Devyn loves baseball! He loves watching the children at the park play in their summer leagues. Since Devyn needs help getting around, a wagon was donated, along with a soft sports blanket made by some very caring children. Now Devyn can go watch his favorite game. Crystal hopes that someday her son will be playing in a league of his own!
